Developed with Collins Aerospace, this structured three-level programme is designed for experienced BoardMaster users who want to become the internal reference point for advanced PCB diagnostics within their organisation.
Delivered entirely online and designed around working schedules, the programme progresses from advanced Power OFF analysis to Power ON testing, automation and custom instrumentation. Participants deepen their technical knowledge, create repeatable TestFlows and develop the confidence to support and train colleagues within their own organisation.

Becoming a BoardMaster Specialist
Level 1 — Power Off
2D and 3D advanced signature analysis (curve tracing) across discrete components and full PCBs, tested with the board powered down.
Level 2 — Power On
Digital in-circuit and out-of-circuit testing techniques for both components and complete boards, under live conditions.
Level 3 — Advanced
Analogue functional testing, virtual instrumentation, custom programming and automated test methods, for engineers ready to lead diagnostics at expert level.

Must the three certification levels be completed in sequence?
Yes. Participants must complete Level 1 before progressing to Level 2, followed by Level 3. Each level builds on the knowledge and practical skills developed during the previous stage.
Is certification awarded at every level?
Yes. Participants receive ABI certification after successfully completing the course content and assessment for each level. This allows progress and competency to be formally recognised throughout the programme.
Is previous BoardMaster training required?
Yes. Participants must have completed ABI BoardMaster system training before enrolling. The certification programme is designed to build on an existing understanding of BoardMaster hardware, SYSTEM 8 Ultimate software and fundamental diagnostic techniques.
Does ABI certification expire or require renewal?
No. ABI certification does not expire and there is no mandatory renewal requirement.
Does the approximately 25-hour duration include assessment time?
No. Each certification level contains approximately 25 hours of course content. Qualifying and final assessment time is additional.
Is the programme exclusively for BoardMaster users?
Yes. The programme is designed exclusively for existing BoardMaster users and develops advanced skills in Power OFF testing, Power ON testing, TestFlow, automation and virtual instrumentation.
Are the assessments marked, and can they be retaken?
Yes. Assessments are marked to confirm that the required standard has been achieved. Participants who do not pass an assessment may retake it.
